Inlays/Onlays

Inlays and onlays are custom restorations made from porcelain or composite. They can be used as an alternative to fillings and crowns. Onlays are sometimes referred to as partial crowns. The advantage here is that less tooth structure has to be removed in the preparation phase of the treatment. Inlays and onlays are an esthetic treatment option for your tooth.

These restorations typically require two visits, similar to the crown. A preparation visit is then followed by a delivery visit.

Indications for inlays and onlays:

  • Broken teeth
  • Fractured teeth
  • Decayed teeth
  • Replacement of a failed silver or composite filling

As with all dental restorations, inlays and onlays are not permanent, and may need to be replaced at some time.
